Ahead of the return of the MORE Act in the US House of Representatives this week, according to the NYTimes, a UN Commission has “voted to remove marijuana for medical use from a list of the most risky narcotics, such as heroin.” The US was amongst those on the commision to vote in favor of removing Cannabis as a Schedule IV Narcotic from the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. Though this won’t have an immediate effect on different countries’ policies regarding Cannabis, individual states can still determine how they regulate Cannabis in their country and it can open up international trade for states who already have legal cannabis measures.
