The Pakalolo Bar is a cannabis infused chocolate dark bar we were gifted while at The Maui Cannabis Conference. The ingredients are very minimal: Hawaiian grown pakalolo and organic chocolate. The weight of the bar is 1.75 oz (50 grams). That’s all the information given on the label but I was told it was around 150 grams of THC. Pakalolo translates to ‘crazy tobacco’ or ‘crazy leaf’. Hawaiian pakalolo can refer to a variety of different strains.
The cannabis used infusing this bar seemed powerful and the effects were hitting within 20 minutes. The organic chocolate used was delicious, tasted very high end and wasn’t over sweet. Chocolate is believed to contain high levels of antioxidants and some studies have suggested chocolate can lower cholesterol levels and prevent memory decline.
Fifty grams of dark chocolate typically has around 19 milligrams of caffeine and I felt a slight energy boost after consuming the Pakalolo, but the caffeine isn’t metabolizing as slowly as the THC so the energy boost is followed by a nice mellowing that follows once the cannabis kicks in.
A Pakalolo Bar isn’t easy to find outside of Maui, but if you find yourself on the island you just might come across one and I can’t recommend it enough, so get lolo if you can.
