Greetings My Friends,
Summer is finally and officially here! In fact, the cover of this very issue was actually shot at a Memorial Day barbeque. The sunshine season is upon us and there’s an endless amount of Summer fun to be had with cannabis in Oklahoma, both inside and outside. Many great times can certainly be had here in the great outdoors, but it’s also nice to escape the bugs, heat and humidity and retreat into some powerful air conditioning and watch a movie or visit a museum. Edibles are ideal for movies and museums. Oklahoma has some great museums and landmarks that are totally with visiting, especially high. You can casually enjoy them and dose yourself without bothering anyone or bringing attention to yourself. They also go great with picnics and barbecues, just make sure you bring a cooler if it’s something that might melt under the sun.
I recently had some fun doing a little background work on an upcoming television series being filmed in Oklahoma starring Sylvester Stallone. In case you weren’t aware, “Tulsa King,” is the story of a 75 year old New York Mafia boss who gets released from prison after 25 years, and is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to set up shop. There’s a cannabis dispensary involved, and I played a small part as a patient smoking outside the shop. The show debuts on Paramount Plus on November 13th, so watch for that. We went to the 80s Prom at Cain’s Ballroom and it was quite a cool experience. We ate edibles before we got there and took some Jackalope Pharms avocado oil tincture for dosing on the dance floor. We also took some hemp rolled blunts made with some nice F5 Farms indoor Black Jack Glue and there’s a great little outdoor alley-patio at Cain’s perfect for smoking. People came in all kinds of crazy 1980s costumes. Everything from Darkness the Devil from “Legend”, to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with plenty of “Purple Rain” and Strawberry Shortcake all over the place. I dressed as close as I could to Magnum PI since it was all pretty last minute but at least my mustache was real. Nice to be back hanging out at Cain’s Ballroom. I saw The Black Crowes play there in 1990 when I was 16 years old. It’s much easier to get high there now and the weed is so much better.
This issue has some great Summer suggestions of ways to have fun while medicating and some recipes and suggestions perfect for the season. There’s some great upcoming events to read about, cannabis news, product reviews, a Summer-Canna-Crossword puzzle, a new entertainment report and more. We also recap our visit to The Cannabis Science Conference in Los Angeles featuring Montel Williams. So – Don’t forget to wear sunblock (SPF 40) when you go outside, be careful eating your edibles, have fun, don’t work too hard and enjoy the Summer issue of Edibles MagazineTM.
As always, smile at your budtender, tip your delivery driver, and know your dose.
